Foundation 1

Welcome to Ash Class

We are the Foundation 1 nursery children.

Our teacher will be Mrs Fidler.

Our teaching assistants will be Miss Burton and Miss Wallace.

Important Information

Please remember to bring to school:

  • A coat
  • A water bottle with water
  • A book bag with your reading book and diary

Welly Wednesday

On Wednesdays the children need to come to school in suitable outdoor clothing and wellingtons or strong footwear as most of the session is outdoor learning. Please ensure that your child has a warm, waterproof coat and a hat in cold weather. We love to dig and plant in our garden and may get quite messy so old clothes are ideal.

PE

PE day is Friday the children will need to come in their PE kit. Black joggers or shorts and a white t-shirt, with trainers.

Reading Information

Children in nursery will receive 2 books at a time.

One of these books is a reading for pleasure book, a book to enjoy together as a family to promote the love for reading and sharing stories together.

The 2nd book will be a phonics book. For nursery children this will be a lilac book banded book. These books have no words and should be used to promote story telling, there are prompts for discussion and involvement within the book.

When the books have been read and recorded in the child's reading diary they will be changed on a Friday.

Children should be reading at least 3 times per week. All children who read at least 3 times each week will be entered into a prize draw to choose something from the 'Golden Box'.

Nottinghamshire Children's Centre Service

  • Colour blocks As part of our maths lessons we look at colour. These colour block videos fit in well with our learning if you would like to watch at home.
